Well I just gave a blessing 1 minute ago to old quiche woman that came to the office and asked for a father. We said we are elders and we gave her a blessing. It was a very beautiful experience. The only confusing part was that she started to burst out in fake tears and crying sounds (as is costume in Almolonga) I could feel the power of the words I spoke. It was a beautiful experience to be a part of. We spoke in Quiche to them and comforted them. She pulled out 5 quetz and tried to give me and Elder Thornock 5Q each. We obviously (we'll actually I'm sure many preachers would have gladly taken it) as members of the Church of Jesus Christ denied it promptly saying that Christ would never "cobrar por una bendición" I like that. His representatives can't be receiving money from souls, driving in a Lamborghini that is somehow "not of this world".
Great week. We had a lot of fun. We've done a lot of working with members. here are some highlights "there are many spiritual highlights, but I haven't been diligent in my journal writing (I promise to improve) so excuse the many secular references.
1:Last night I put a cushion outside and my comp got out a hammock and we slept under the millions of Heaven sent, natural night lights. God really does love us, doesn't he?
2: I've found the love of my life. That's right. A popsicle stand that sells Coco-helados at 1Q each. It is a miracle in and of itself.
3: Baptisms that have happened that are amazing. Pedro, who was confirmed last week, received a promise in his confirmation that he would "find a job". God was proven, the windows opened, and he received a job as a cleaner. Wonderful.
4: Found some great ties and did some spring cleaning. Really ready to embrace the better inner self and start being more organized, natural, happy, and Christlike. It's a a lifelong pursuit really.
5: I love the Guatemalan people. They are so beautiful and so full of faith. So much love.
6: When I make lists I tend to get off topic (sorry)
7: I've written some great poetry and today we went to a local store and played a round of -you guessed it- settlers of Catan. It was free to play (I know a guy) !
8: President took us on a surprise trip to Quiche. He literally just said one day "elders get your stuff done because we are going to Quiche". He bought us food and we had a blast playing football.
9: The future is positive. My life is an endless hallway of light. I can't see the darkness anywhere
I love the gospel. If it weren't true, I'd ask the question Christ asked to his disciples: where would you go? Where else are the 10000000000000000 restored puzzle pieces of the Gospel of Christ. I'd also add a serious of "well then what about this?"
What about the: inspired blessings I've given, the tender mercies of the Lord I've seen because of faith (1 Nephi 1:20) what about the miracles of healing I've seen and witnessed, what about the spirit I've felt during scripture study, the light that radiates from the faithful member's face, the spiritual gifts I've been given to bless others in specific ways, the miracles of baptisms, the guidance of the spirit to houses, ...... etc etc. Believe me. I could. Go. On. And. On.
Miracles. I have seen so many
As Jesus the Christ notes, the growing of a plant is a miracle. I've come to see these things above as daily actions and, therefore, just as I can say I know that seeds grow into plants, I can say, I know that Christ is my Savior, Joseph Smith was a prophet, and this church is the only true, living and correct church on the FACE OF THE EARTH. Bold claim, verdad?
Prove me
Much love,
Elder Young.

The cutest family ever. She got married and baptized without once having ever gone to church. How great is her faith.
